AI Leadership Series

Adaptability, Resilience, and AI

Overview

Officially titled Adaptability, Resilience, and AI, this course helps you move from AI anxiety to action. As AI reshapes how organisations work, make decisions and adapt to change, thriving alongside it takes more than technical know-how; it takes adaptability and psychological resilience. The programme draws on science-backed strategies to help you and your team work through the emotions that come with AI-enabled workflows.

This is an official Harvard Online course, featuring faculty from Harvard Medical School and delivered on Harvard Online's learning platform. IPMC International handles your registration, payment and local support, then enrols you on the course. It is a self-guided, on-demand programme, and the microcredential is issued by Harvard Online.

What you'll learn

The course develops three connected capabilities:

  • Recognise your responses to AI-driven change: spot the emotional and behavioural reactions that surface during uncertainty, identify common stress responses and avoidance patterns, and understand how avoidance affects your own, your team's and your organisation's readiness to adopt AI.
  • Build adaptability and resilience: apply science-backed strategies to increase psychological flexibility and respond more effectively to change, using Dr Marques's "Bold Move" framework to move towards purposeful action.
  • Lead AI adoption in line with your values: support teams to engage with AI through empathy and psychological readiness, and connect change efforts to core values, shared goals and resilient leadership.

Course syllabus

The programme works through reflective exercises, real-world perspectives and values-based planning across five short modules. It helps you recognise how you react to AI-related change, shift unhelpful thought patterns and align your use of AI with your personal and professional goals.

Introduction

Define what adaptability means in practice and identify your own current comfort level with AI.

Observe the TEB Cycle

Map your biological stress responses through the Thoughts, Emotions and Behaviours (TEB) Cycle and identify your avoidance style or styles.

Shift

Surface the unhelpful thoughts about AI that keep you stuck, and practise the Shift strategy to generate a new, more balanced thought about using it.

Approach

Identify the "hot buttons" and situations where you are most likely to avoid AI, and build an opposite-action plan to approach rather than avoid.

Align

Clarify your core personal and professional values and align the way you use AI with those values.
