AI Leadership Series

Storytelling as Strategy: Narrative and AI

Overview

In a fast-moving workplace, leaders need more than data and analysis to move people to act — they need stories that resonate. Storytelling as Strategy: Narrative and AI gives you practical frameworks for using narrative as a leadership and communication tool, working through classic storytelling archetypes, real business communication scenarios and AI-assisted story development.

This is an official Harvard Online course, featuring faculty from the Harvard Faculty of Arts & Sciences and Harvard Business School, and delivered on Harvard Online's learning platform. IPMC International handles your registration, payment and local support, then enrols you on the course. The format is self-guided within a scheduled cohort, and the certificate of completion is issued by Harvard Online.

What you'll learn

The course develops three connected sets of skills, blending the strategic use of AI with the enduring human craft of communication:

  • Use storytelling as a strategic communication tool — recognise when and how narrative can clarify business challenges, opportunities and ideas, and apply classic storytelling structures and archetypes to workplace communication scenarios.
  • Develop stronger narratives with support from AI — use AI to generate, refine and test storylines for different audiences and objectives, and evaluate AI-generated content with human judgement to keep it clear, credible and emotionally resonant.
  • Communicate stories with influence and impact — adapt tone, framing and delivery to make messages more persuasive across contexts, and strengthen the human elements of presence, empathy and judgement that help stories inspire action.
